I did not pay much attention to dragonflies before my daughter Sarah died. Since then they have appeared at moments I could not ignore. This page collects those encounters and links to the full posts. For my first signs, see Signs from Sarah Rose Genari.
My first dragonfly
I had read that dragonflies can be signs from loved ones who have passed, but I had not seen one until June 28, 2018. A dragonfly flew straight across an intersection until it reached my car, then flew back and forth in front of the windshield, staying there even as I pulled away. The whole thing lasted about 30 seconds. I caught part of it on my dash cam. Read My First Dragonfly!
Dragonflies on important days
- Many Signs Today: the day the columbarium was installed, a dragonfly came up to the car window while my wife waited for me.
- A Day Full of Little Signs: after visiting the cemetery twice, a dragonfly flew around my car and landed on the driver’s side mirror.
- A Week for Dragonflies: five dragonfly sightings in one week, starting when my wife picked up tickets for Sarah’s graduating class’s ceremony.
- The Peaceful Dragonfly: a dragonfly buzzed my car at a stoplight within minutes of hearing a song I had once asked Sarah to sing for me.
Why I notice them
In the post about the dragonfly at the stoplight, I wrote that I have worked in the same area for 25 years and have only ever had two dragonflies buzz my car, both after Sarah died. I do not claim to prove anything. I am sharing what I have seen so others who are grieving may notice their own signs.
