When I was leaving for work, I had an urge to stop by where Sarah died. I do not have the urge or do that or stop by with any frequency. In 5 months I can probably count the times on 1 hand.
It had started to become overgrown and it was hard to see the cross someone had put there because the grass had grown around it, but I could still make it out.
I was in the car when I had started to back up to get a better vantage point. It was at that exact moment that a single Mocking Bird launched itself into the sky from the spot where she had been found.
It happened so fast and my field of view was limited so it felt like it was gone in less than a second. The picture burned into my mind was the view of wings completely spread like I was looking down from above it even though I was looking at the horizon from about 20 feet. That was how vertically it ascended.
