Bee and Wasp Signs from a Loved One Who Has Passed

Bees and wasps were among the first signs I noticed after my daughter Sarah went missing in April 2018. I did not understand what they meant until later. This page tells that story briefly and links to the other posts where bees and wasps have appeared. The full account is on Signs from Sarah Rose Genari.

The first bees

While the police were searching for Sarah, a bee always seemed to hover between me and the officers whenever they stopped to talk with us outside. It happened every time, and when someone tried to shoo it away, it would only fly a short way to the side.

On May 9, a good friend of Sarah’s and her friend’s mother stopped by, and we sat in chairs on the driveway. A bee behaved strangely. It landed on the ground between us, made a couple of circles, flipped onto its back, flipped back over, circled again, and flew away. Sarah’s friend said it looked like it was trying to get our attention.

May 12, 2018: when I put it together

On May 12, a wasp would not leave my wife and youngest daughter alone when we got home, and later a bee kept flying around my head every time I got under a car I was working on. When I finished, I looked up the signs that loved ones who have died are said to send, and I realized Sarah had been sending us signs the whole time.

A wasp at the funeral Mass

On May 27, during Mass in the church where Sarah’s funeral would be held, a wasp flew slowly across the pew in front of us. It landed on a flower next to the tabernacle while the priest spoke about suffering, and later flew directly over my head. It is probably the most powerful insect sign I have seen.

More insect signs

Insects of all kinds have shown up on hard days. See also The Hitchhiker, Three Katydids, and my page on dragonflies. Birds are on my cardinals page.
